Lansdowne Crescent

The name Lansdowne (for places, streets, etc) appears in Hobart and Melbourne, also in various places within the former British Empire e.g: Canada, India, South Africa & New Zealand, and in England & Wales.

At a guess I’d say its use originated from one or other Marquess of Lansdowne who was perhaps pre-eminent in British politics, and/or or possibly involved with colonial administration.
