Neighbourhood Watch

West Hobart Neighbourhood Watch was formed in 1987.

Since then, it has been encouraging local residents how to increase their safety and security.

Meetings are held at 7:30pm on the second Wednesday each month (except January) in the meeting hall at Lawrenny Court, on the corner of Hill & Arthur Streets.

The meetings usually commence with a very brief business session which includes a crime report from visiting Tasmania Police officers and an opportunity for residents to share any concerns or information and ask questions.

The “formal” part of the meeting then closes and is followed by either an interesting guest speaker or an enjoyable social activity or quiz night where residents get together.

A monthly newsletter is published which is delivered to almost 3000 homes around West Hobart by our wonderful network of delivery volunteers, each delivering to around 50 – 70 nearby homes. The newsletter contains the Tasmania Police crime report for the previous month as well as news about other events happening in West Hobart.

Proceeds from advertising in the newsletter is used to support local school and community projects as well as the annual, end of year BBQ in the John Doggett Park at the bottom of Hamilton Street.

If you would like to contribute or assist with deliveries, send us an email.  You can contact West Hobart Neighbourhood Watch at whnhwatch@gmail.com.
